More bad news Dota fans; After the recent announcement that ESL One Los Angeles Major has been delayed due to coronavirus concerns, Valve have confirmed that the next set of major and minor tournaments have been completely cancelled as the company are prioritising the health of the competitors, staff, and fans.
For those playing at home, this means that both the OGA Dota PIT Minor 2020 (Apr 23 – 26) and EPICENTER Major 2020 (May 02 – 10) have been cancelled. Valve confirmed that both events had been cancelled with no plans of rescheduling, while ESL One Los Angeles was originally announced as postponed with the intention of a new date. No word on whether ESL One Los Angeles will be rescheduled or cancelled as per Dota Pit and EPICENTER.
This leaves the DPC with only one Major left, the ONE Esports Singapore Major 2020 in June, meaning that DPC points for the tournament will be critical as there are several major teams yet to even participate in an official DPC event such as OG and PSG.LGD. Valve did comment on the status of the event, stating that “Given the high fluidity of the state of both the pandemic and geopolitical landscape, we will keep following the situation and decide how to approach the final major and minor of the season as the weeks progress”.
