Publisher Activision has revealed the next title in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. With a release date of October 25 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. With Activision saying it will support play between PC and console through cross-play.
This will be the first time a Call of Duty will playable cross platform. With Infinity Ward co-studio head and creative director Patrick Kelly saying we aim to “unite the community.” Allowing players on different platforms to team up or fight with one another.
A reboot of the 2007 game, “The new game is not set in the same universe as the existing trilogy” says Infinity Ward.
Modern Warfare will follow a new storyline with the campaign split into two halves, with a few familiar faces along the way. The first half see’s you take the role of a Tier 1 operator, a special forces soldier. The second a rebel fighter in the Middle East.
There will also be a multiplayer mode, but little detail has been reveled. Activision has stated there will NO standard season pass that locks off post-launch multiplayer maps.
