GeekFam have been forced to withdraw from the upcoming ESL One Hamburg 2019 tournament. Replacing GeekFam is none other than the resurgent Alliance, who have looked impressive since signing their new roster ahead of the DPC season.
The GeekFam will be disappointed missing out on Hamburg. As not only is there $300,000USD up for grabs, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to continue building team chemistry ahead of the opening minor of the DPC season- The Summit 11.
GeekFam’s withdrawal from the tournament is unfortunately due to VISA complications, despite winning the SEA qualifiers just over two weeks ago. ESL commented that while they would of loved to invite another SEA based team, there simply wasn’t enough time to process their VISA’s. Which is fair enough, as Hamburg kicks off on the 25th of October.
As for the Swedish powerhouses Alliance, things continue to look good for them following their impressive showing at the MDL Chengdu Major EU qualifiers. I have no doubt they will have another impressive showing at Hamburg, especially if Nikobaby finishes the tournament with a KDA of 17.19 again.
