Audio-Technica has announced the release of an updated version of their flagship Bluetooth wireless headphones, the ATH-M50xBT2. Much like its predecessor, the ATH-M50xBT, the ATH-M50xBT2 offers the same exhilarating audio experience but with several additions and a host of improvements such as Bluetooth connectivity, adjustable EQ, multi-pairing, longer battery life, app support and much, much more.
Audio-Technica has remained loyal to the original M50xBT by delivering a wireless audio experience that audiophiles crave, but at the same time has included several hardware upgrades to improve vocal pickup, incorporating dual-microphone beamforming technology and an updated USB-C connection that is sure to please users.
Bluetooth connectivity was the biggest selling point of the M50xBT, so it comes as no surprise that the Audio-Technica has including several improvements to M50xBT2’s Bluetooth functionality such as multipoint pairing to enable two Bluetooth devices to be connected at the same time, low-latency mode, improving synchronicity between audio and video for smooth streaming and gaming, and compatibility with multiple audio codecs (SBC, AAC and LDAC).
The new A-T Connect app allows users to adjust EQ settings, enable low latency mode, change codecs, and other useful features that are unique to the app. These settings can then be saved directly to the headphones themselves rather than within the app itself. Battery life has also seen a noticeable improvement with around 50 hours of continuous use from a full charge, and around 3 hours from just a 10-minute rapid charge.
Not every aspect of the M50xBT2 has been improved upon; the high-quality audio performance remains untouched thanks to its already impressive 45 mm large-aperture drivers. While the design and robust construction, which include its 90-degree swivelling earcups and professional-grade earpads both remain untouched.
The Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 is available now from www.audio-technica.com.au and other retailers for an RRP of $349 AUD.
