Mixer is dead while Twitch struggles with sexual misconduct.
Popular streamer and competitive gamer Guy Beahm, aka Dr Disrespect, has been permanently banned from Twitch.
The banning comes just days after the #TwitchBlackout movement which saw Twitch streamers refrain from streaming on the 26th of June. The blackout was orchestrated to highlight allegations of sexism and sexual misconduct by gaming and streaming industry figures.
Guy responded to the banning yesterday on Twitter saying he was given no specific reason for the banning.
After receiving an influx of complaints regarding sexual harassment and abuse Twitch responded by bringing the ban hammer down on several streamers: IamSp00n, Wolv21, BlessRNG, DreadedCone, and WarwitchTV have all received a permanent ban.
While Guy is no stranger to controversy the reason for his banning is still unclear.
The only good news Twitch has seen recently was the move by Microsoft to shutter Mixer. The streaming platform was migrated over to join Facebook Gaming. This saw major streaming talents Ninja and Shroud, among others, released from their contracts and are once again free to stream on the platform of their choosing.
