Since Dr Disrespect’s abrupt departure from Twitch last month, Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm has been teasing his return to streaming, but gave no indication on his preferred platform… until now.
Dr Disrespect made his return to streaming yesterday on YouTube, much to the delight of hundreds of thousands of fans who tuned in for the stream (and over 1,000,000 views since). It was a short, but satisfying stream by the doctor himself (I doubt he is an actual doctor…) where he maintains that he still has received no official explanation from Twitch regarding his ban, and further explained that he cannot think of any reason why he was banned.
As hard as this may be to believe, there has been absolutely no leaks since his Twitch ban on June 26. Sure, there have been a few insiders who CLAIM they know why but refuse to say so. This could be as a result of the legal process, or perhaps just insiders making false claims to further their careers. Either way, we still have no official explanation on why Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch. The good news is that Dr Disrespect back and has chosen YouTube is his preferred streaming platform, for now…
It is understood that Dr Disrespect is currently streaming on YouTube without exclusivity deal, meaning that he is still free to stream on any platform of his choice (but due to the nature of this ban, he can’t actually stream with anyone from Twitch). Our friends over at PC Gamer claiming that the Doctor has “immediate plans to experiment with other platforms including Facebook Gaming and his own site, ChampionsClub.gg.”.
Is this a clever marketing strategy from Dr Disrespect to help drive interest in his signature? or is it simply the honest truth as the doctor wants to increase his exposure over multiple platforms? Only time will tell, ladies and gentlemen.
