Gamers are always looking for the perfect Christmas present for themselves their loved ones, and we know this here at MEF TECH. This is why we have compiled a list of some of the best products available this Holiday season, no matter if you have been naughty or nice!

Next-gen consoles are finally here, albeit sold out. Nevertheless, there has never been a better time to upgrade your gaming headset than this holiday season with several great products from EPOS│SENNHEISER, Turtle Beach and the new boys on the block, JBL.

JBL Quantum 600

Gaming with the Quantum 600 also delivers a great experience, the 2.4GHz wireless dongle was flawless and provided quick paring with latency-free audio for both on PC and PS4.

Chris Carew – MEF TECH

The JBL Quantum 600 gaming headset is an excellent mid-range headset that offers an impressive range of features such as huge 50 mm dynamic drivers, JBL QuantumSURROUND, lossless 2.4GHz wireless freedom and JBL’s quality reliability all at the reasonable value of $229.95 AUD. There is no better example of why JBL is one of the most trusted brands in the audio industry than with the Quantum 600 and is an excellent choice for gamers this festive season

If you’re in the market for a premium gaming headset, the EPOS│SENNHEISER GSP 500 offers exceptional natural audio, excellent open-back acoustics plus a microphone that delivers clear in-game chat.

Chris Carew – MEF TECH

There is no doubt that EPOS | SENNHEISER knows a thing or two about audio thanks to over 115 years experience in the audio business. This is no more evident than with the EPOS | SENNHEISER GSP 500 as this is the perfect example of how EPOS | SENNHEISER have been able to use their wealth of experience to produce an immersive gaming experience. This open-back design is able to deliver a wide sound stage that is complemented by its comfortable and durable construction. For under $300 AUD, the EPOS | SENNHEISER GSP 500 is one of the best-wired headsets on the market and would look good under my any Christmas Tree!

Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2

The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 prepares gamers for the next-generation of gaming

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

Next-gen consoles are finally here! — And what better way to get the most out of your new PS5 or Xbox Series X than with the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 wireless gaming headset. The Stealth 600 Gen 2 builds on the foundation laid by the original Stealth 600’s but with a much-improved design and more features than ever before. The audio performance doesn’t get the same attention but for $150 AUD, you simply can’t go wrong this Christmas with a pair of Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2.

Brands such as Gigabyte, Logitech, ASUS ROG, SteelSeries, and Roccat, the gaming keyboard market has never been more competitive. But don’t worry, we are here to help you select the best keyboard to suit your Christmas budget.

ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX

The ROG Strix Scope RX is a game changer!

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

There is not much that the ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX does wrong, but a helluva lot it does right! ROG takes their Strix Scope range of keyboards to the next level thanks to their all-new ROG RX Optical Switches. These innovative switches are perhaps the biggest leap in mechanical gaming switches that we have ever seen by using infrared light rather than the traditional mechanical design of two metal contacts closing. The results? Well, they speak for themselves!

Combine the ROG RX Optical Switches with impressive features such as IP56 rating, USB pass-through and Aura Sync lighting technology at an affordable price of $250 AUD, and you get the recipe for an amazing product. So if you’re looking to spoil that special someone (or your favourite journalist, wink, wink) then do them a favour this Christmas and give them the ROG Strix Scope RX!

SteelSeries Apex 3

The Apex 3 has features that make it feel more luxurious than its price tag

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

The SteelSeries Apex 3 may not be on everyone’s radar this Christmas, but it should be — The Apex 3 offers performance and features that are well beyond its $150 AUD price tag, meaning is it perfect for both casual and hardcore gamers without breaking open the piggy bank. SteelSeries have opted against mechanical switches for the Apex 3 and instead opted with a membrane switch that not only keeps the price down but also lowers acoustic vibrations and reduces the overall noise. Much like the rest of the Apex range, the Apex 3 includes SteelSeries’ iconic OLED display and even IP32 certification to protect against dust and water ingress, which may come in handy over the holiday season.

Roccat Vulcan 120 AIMO

Walking into this review I was a SteelSeries fanboy, but now I have a new peripheral that has kicked the gate wide open to challenge what I think is the best.

James Lindsay – MEF TECH

The Roccat Vulcan 120 AIMO is not only as pretty as your Christmas tree, but it is also one of the best performing keyboards on the market. The Vulcan’s innovative keycaps are able to showcase the keyboard’s RGB effects like no other and when you combine this with the performance of Roccat Titan switches and features such as full anti-ghosting, n-key rollover, and a polling rate of 1000Hz, you simply can’t go wrong this Christmas for just $250 AUD.

Forget about cheese, MEF TECH knows a thing or two about mice and have selected three amazing mouses from Logitech, SteelSeries, and ASUS ROG that would compliment any gaming setup.

Logitech G102 LIGHTSYNC

It’s clean and simple design backed by Logitech’s gaming sensor make it easy for anyone looking for a mouse they can pick up and game with, while the G HUB software provides plenty of control and customisation for seasoned vets.

Joel Nitschke – MEF TECH

Logitech is famous for its diverse range of gaming products and has built its reputation with such products as the Logitech G102 LIGHTSYNC mouse. The G102 LIGHTSYNC maintains its familiar design but incorporates LIGHTSYNC technology that ensures you completely immersed in the action with real-time, game-driven lighting effects such as in-game explosions, damage taken, and healing received. How often do you look at your mouse when you are playing a game? Well, this isn’t the point, but for $59 AUD, the G102 LIGHTSYNC provides unmatched value and is one of the best purchases of this Christmas Guide.

SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless

The Rival 3 Wireless ticks all the boxes for a budget-friendly wireless mouse that is a great option for both in the office and at home gaming.

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

The SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless is perhaps one of the best options to fill those Xmas stockings this year. Not only does it cost only $120 AUD, but when you combine its light and ergonomic design with its performance and 400-hour battery life, it is no surprise that the Rival 3 Wireless is one of the best bang for buck mouses on the market.

The Rival 3 Wireless is the first mouse to feature SteelSeries‘ low-consumption optical sensor, the TrueMove Air, which has also since found its way into the Aerox 3 Wireless. The Rival 3 Wireless also features both Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz connectivity and is powered by 2x AAA batteries. Yes, that’s right — AAA batteries! These batteries combine to produce up to 400 hours of battery life. Sure, there is no flashy RGB illumination that we associate gaming products with, but the Rival 3 Wireless is a great option for anyone looking for a Christmas gift they can use both at home and in the office.

ASUS ROG Chakram Core

The modular design of the Chakram Core means you can customise the mouse to suit your needs

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

The ROG Chakram Core is one of the most innovative and versatile mouses I have ever used — Not only does it feature all the performance you come to expect from ROG (16,000 DPI, 400 IPS and 40g acceleration), but it also features a modular design that even includes a full analogue 256 input joystick (can be configured also as a 4 input D-pad). This gives gamers an entirely new level of control and delivers precision beyond the capabilities of any other mouse. Don’t want to use the joystick for a certain game or at work? then cover it up; The choice is yours, much like the choice to buy this mouse for your favourite MEF TECH writer, Chris

Gamers will love the G27QC’s 27-inch, 1440p display that produces a fantastic image.

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

Gaming monitors might not be on everyone’s Christmas shopping list, but at just $499 AUD, the Gigabyte G27QC might just make it onto your gift list after all. Gigabyte proves that not all true gaming monitors need to cost $1000. Instead, the G27QC proves that you can purchase a premium 27″ QHD gaming monitor with a bucket-load of features such as 165Hz refresh rate, 1 m/s response time, 3000:1 contrast ratio, HDR ready, and FreeSync compatible (and unofficially G-Sync too) all at a reasonable price. Will the Q27QC fit in your Xmas stocking? Probably not, but would look great sitting on your desk!

Paired with a gaming headset, the GSX 300 will allow the headset to reach its true potential

Chris Carew – MEF TECH

Onboard sound cards will do the job for most people, but serious gamers and audiophiles want the best unleash the true potential of their audio devices, and there is no better solution than the EPOS│SENNHEISER GSX 300 USB sound card. An audio device is only as good as the source, and this is why an external sound card such as the GSX 300 can help eliminate the downfalls of onboard sound. At $130 AUD, you can ensure that those Christmas carols will sound better than ever through your brand new EPOS│SENNHEISER GSX 300 USB sound card.

Editor’s Choice

Don’t believe me? I don’t blame you! This is why everyone at MEF TECH has chosen a product close to their heart that is sure to bring a smile to everyone on Christmas Day..

SteelSeries Apex 7 Gaming Keyboard

James Lindsay

The quality of the Apex 7 is superb and the performance is up there with the best. Throw in some beautiful RGB illumination and a sleek gorgeous design, the Apex 7 is a terrific option for hardcore and casual gamers alike.

Jimmy Lindsay – MEF TECH

Walking into 2020 made me reassess my entire gaming get-up and once I plugged in the Apex 7, I knew it was a game-changer! It does push the wallet a little but the performance, design, and RGB illumination really do justify its price tag. Features like the USB pass-through, Well built frame, fancy OLED display and a comfy magnetic wrist rest really set this keyboard apart for me in the market.

Chris Carew

The GSP 500 are my daily drivers and the sound they produce is fantastic, especially when combined with a quality DAC such a the GSX 300, the GSP 500 won’t disappoint.

Chris Carew – MEF TECH

2020 has been a year full of challenges and changing the way we work, interact and find solace in new ways. Personally, gaming and music have never been a more important escape — especially now as work has invaded home life. The EPOS│SENNHEISER GSP 500 not only provide an excellent escape, but it’s open-back acoustics, sound profile and versatility are the reasons why I always return to the GSP 500. Having awareness of a knock at the door or someone entering the room is something I’ve come so accustomed to so much so that other headsets feel disorientating, stuffy and enclosed.

With a solid set of qualities, it was an easy choice to recommend the EPOS│SENNHEISER GSP 500 as my daily drivers and on this guide.

SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless Headset

Michael Wood

the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless is a headset well worth having a look at if your in the market for a new gaming headset that delivers where it counts and without the high-end price tag.

Michael Wood – MEF TECH

This year I have had the opportunity to test and review a number of fantastic gaming headsets specifically targeted for consoles or “On The Go” gamers that all had their pro and cons. The most surprising (in a good way) was the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless. The headset is SteelSeries entry-level wireless headset for PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android. The headset is stripped back from high-end finishings and certain features are seen on other headsets in the Arctis range but, excel where its matters — comfort, versatility, and audio quality.

I was really amazed by how good this product was given it was targeted at the entry-level market, the audio quality was as good as any premium expensive headset that I’ve experienced. I actually replaced my more expensive PS4 headset with the Arctis 1 and have not looked back. At the time of this article the SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless is retailing at $199 AUD at JB HiFi but I was able to find some pretty hot deals online for Xmas from Amazon AU which had the headset for under $130 AUD. If you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone special or looking to spoil yourself you won’t go wrong with a SteelSeries Arctis 1 Wireless wrapped up under the Xmas Tree this year.

Kogan GM-Air Ultra Lightweight Mouse

Joel Nitschke

Its eye-catching design is sure to complement any gaming setup while the fast polling rate and adjustable DPI means you’re really left with no excuses for missing that 360 no scope.

Joel Nitschke – MEF TECH

Sure you could spend $200+ on a high-end gaming mouse, but let’s be honest, is little Johnny or Jen really going to get the most out of it playing Minecraft? For those looking for a cheaper option for a niece or nephew, the Kogan GM-AIR Ultra Lightweight RGB Gaming Mouse is an easy win. Its functionality and pleasing look and feel really took me by surprise during my review and testing. As an added bonus its price will leave you with plenty of spare coin to spend on yourself the rest of your family. Plus all that sweet RGB is bound to win you some brownie points with the kids.

SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless Mouse

Shaun Grimley

For a mouse that weighs only 66 grams, SteelSeries have provided an unbelievable amount of performance and features

Shaun Grimley – MEF TECH

I have been privileged enough to review a number of great products this year that we couldn’t fit into this guide, but there is one product that is close to my heart and is absolutely beeutiful (bee pun intended), this is, of course, the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless. Its honeycomb shell design is sure to attract plenty of attention from gamers and bees, and once you look past its unique design you soon realise just how good this mouse is. The Aerox 3 Wireless is one of the lightest wireless mouse on the market, weighing in at only 66 grams, while Quantum 2.0 dual-wireless technology provides both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity. Despite holey exterior, SteelSeries have managed to include IP54 certification and even features 3-zone RGB illumination for all you gamers who need to show off your peripherals. No matter which way you look at it, the SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless is a truly magnificent piece of technology that is worthy of sitting under your Christmas tree — The only problem is that is hasn’t hit ANZ retails stores yet and unfortunately won’t until 2021, meaning the only way to you your hands on the Aerox 3 Wireless is by heading over to to the official SteelSeries store and pick it up online.
