This is one for all you Lord of the Rings and Minecraft fans out there. A dedicated group of Minecraft players- appropriately named Minecraft Middle Earth, have spent the last 9 years recreating the world of Middle Earth within Minecraft and boy, they’ve done an amazing job. The boys over at Node recently had the pleasure of a grand tour of Middle Earth, exploring everything from Bilbo’s house to Mount Doom and their reactions says it all- they loved it. The video below shows their journey and even compares iconic locations from the movies to the recreated world in Minecraft, the results are incredible!
Minecraft Middle Earth describes itself as “a Minecraft community that recreates the world described by JRR Tolkien and his writings. Everyone can participate in organized events in which we collaborate to create major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms and more.” It’s obvious the team have drawn their inspiration from the films, but they’ve also included locations from the book that weren’t deemed worthy of being included. There’s still some minor details that need to be finished, but the work achieved by the team is astonishing amd a real credit to everyone involved.
