Rainbow Six Operation Steel Wave is finally here!
Good news operators as Rainbow Six’s next season Operation Steel Wave is now officially live. The second season of year 5 content launched today and has brought with it a new defender Ace, attacker Melusi and a new rework of the classic map House.
If you own the Year 5 pass you can ofcourse have access already to the new operators, or for all other players out there you will have to wait until June 23, from there you can purchase them using renown or R6 credits.
In Operation Steel Wave, players will meet two new Operators:
- Norwegian Attacker Ace is equipped with S.E.L.M.A., a throwable and stickable device that will stick to any vertical surface and slowly destroy up to 3 panels, one after the other. The S.E.L.M.A. gadget can also be thrown at almost any defensive gadget and destroy it with its arms or water explosive.
- South African Defender Melusi is equipped with Banshee deployable electronic gadgets. It applies a slowing effect to any Attackers that are in range and direct line of sight. The Banshee can also be used as an intel gadget as it produces an identifiable sound when an attacker enters its range.
Along with the 2 newest operators we see a rework of a classic map and infact the first map I remember playing and loving, it was the map that made me so addicted to this game 5 years ago, House. The homeowners have expanded their family and their floorplan, with a large two story addition adding new objective sites and entry points for players to contend with and help bring a whole new style of tactic to the map.
A new Defender secondary gadget has also been added, the Proximity Alarm. Bascalliy a small grenade size device and when an attacker comes with in its radius it emits a beeping noise, alerting players of the near by enemy. Pretty handy if you ask me and a welcomed addition.
Rainbow Six Siege Year 5, is now available for PS4, Xbox One, PC and UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service. For more on Rainbow Six Siege, check out our previous coverage.
