I can’t believe its been 17 years since we got our hands on Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time… if only there was a way I could turn back some of that time. Well if you were a fan of the 2003 release, like me, then great news! Ubisoft has announced a Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake.
The Sands of Time Remake has been developed from the ground up with the Anvil game engine and will be Ubisoft’s first-ever full-scale remake.
If you were too young for the original release or just didn’t get around to playing it, you will soon have the option to follow the Prince on his path for redemption after unwittingly releasing the Sands of Time on the Sultan’s kingdom. As with the original, you play as the heroic Prince alongside the daughter of the Maharaja, Princess Farah. Armed with you time controlling dagger you work your way through the palace facing not just sword-wielding enemies, but rooms full of traps and puzzles eventually working your way to confronting the evil Vizier, who controls the Sands of Time. Yuri Lowenthal is back doing the voicing and motion capture for the Prince’s and actress Supinder Wraich takes on the role the role of Farah.
If you’re an old school gamer you won’t need a magic dagger that controls time to go back and play the original Prince of Persia because as a bonus, The Sands of Time Remake includes the OG Prince of Persia game. Initially released in 1989 the side-scrolling platformer is bound to hit the nostalgia nerve for a few of us more seasoned gamers.
Players who pre-order the game will have access to the Back To The Origins set which includes:
- The Original Prince outfit from the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- The Prince’s Original Weapons set
- A Classic Filter that changes the look & feel of the game on the screen, just like if players were playing the game back in time
The game will be available for $69.95 AUD from January 21, 2020, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
