SteelSeries Celebrates 20 Years of Gaming and Esports
The SteelSeries brand has been closely associated with esports since its inception back in 2001. Over the past 20 years, SteelSeries has continued to push the boundaries of performance and innovation with products that date back as early as 2001 when founder Jacob Wolff-Petersens introduced the world’s first glass gaming mouse pad. Since then, SteelSeries has continued to evolve the esports scene as not only a leader in gaming and esports peripherals but also forming partnerships with esports teams and helping them achieve the ultimate success such as OG winning back to back Dota 2 International Championships.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary in esports, SteelSeries has today announced a year-long celebration that includes the release of six short animated films, an upcoming AMA with Chief Technical Officer Tino Soelberg, and in true esports fashion, will host their inaugural Valorant online tournament, the Apex Masters, later this month.
“The first twenty years of SteelSeries have been marked by innovation, countless firsts, and true collaboration with pros. Together, we’ve built a global esports scene and fueled its meteoric rise” said SteelSeries CEO, Ehtisham Rabbani, “And we are hard at work forging the next frontier of gaming greatness with product and software innovations that will continue to be industry-defining in the years to come. At SteelSeries, we know that every gamer can feel like a star and push gaming further than anyone dreamed.”.
The short animated films give an insight into the development of SteelSeries technology and how the brand continues to push the boundaries of technology and gaming. These videos are produced by the SteelSeries‘ in-house creative team, so there is no doubt they know what they are talking about! You can watch these films over at steelseries.com/glory right now!
Make sure you head over to the official SteelSeries Twitch Channel on February 5 at 6 AM AEDST for the AMA with Chief Technical Officer Tino Soelberg. Tino will go into detail regarding the early days of technology in gaming peripherals and how they have evolved into what we all use today.
And finally, if Valorant is your thing (which I think it is!), then mark your calendars for the inaugural SteelSeries Apex Masters online tournament from February 13-28. You can catch all the action and details over at the SteelSeries Twitch Channel.
