While The International 2019 Main Event doesn’t begin until August 20, Valve have kept Dota 2 fans happy by releasing The International Battle Pass. The International 2018 saw the biggest prize pool in all of Esports, just a measly $25,532,177 shared amongst the best 18 teams in the world, with Team OG taking home just over $11,000,000 for winning the event. Valve would be expecting to eclipse that prize pool this year, especially with moving the event to Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China.
“The International Battle Pass is here to blaze a trail into the heart of the Dota summer season. Loaded full of exclusive features and legendary rewards, the Battle Pass is your treasure map to mythic fortune and glory as we journey to the conclusion of this year’s Dota Pro Circuit and the ultimate showdown in Shanghai”. -Dota2.com
For those unaware, The International Battle Pass consists of a new game mode, features, consumables and rewards to boost your e-ego. The International Battle Pass will set you back a mere $9.99, but if you have deep wallets you can purchase pre-leveled Battle Passes (Level 50 is $29.35 and Level 100 is $44.99). As always, 25% of all Battle Pass sales goes to The International 2019 prize-pool (and 75% straight to Valve). At time of this article, the prize-pool has already surpassed $4.5 million, not bad Dota 2 community, not bad at all.
This year’s new game mode is called Wrath of the Mo’rokai, not much is known about other than it will provide players with a unique experience. The official Dota 2 website describes it as “Deep in the jungles of Fellstrath, the ruins of an ancient civilization lie hidden beneath tangled canopy and creeping vine. But the crumbling facades and flourishing overgrowth aren’t the only things lurking there”.
There’s plenty of features from last year’s Battle Pass to keep
reddit trolls the Dota 2 community happy, they include wagering MMR, ranked roles, Daily Hero Challenge and one of my personal favorites, tipping. Of course, there’s plenty of new cosmetics, collectables, taunts, banners, and plenty more to keep everyone happy.
