Splinter Cell has pretty much laid dormant since 2013 with Splinter Cell: Blacklist being the last release out of the franchise. While Sam Fisher has shown up in a DLC for Ghost Recon Wildlands and his famous suit in Far Cry New Dawn, Ubisoft have denied they are working on a comeback until now, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stating that a new entry in the series is actually being worked on.
Yves Guillemot while speaking Chinese outlet GamerSky, said “On Splinter Cell, there will be some new type of experiments, but more on different devices. We are working a lot on the brand today to come back at one point. We can’t say when because as you know it takes time, but we have to find which time is right to come back big.”
“Experiments” as hinted by Guillemot maybe rumored VR Splinter Cell game supposedly picked up by Oculus as an exclusive but at this point for a full reboot, it might be more of a wait for next-gen hardware.
Either way Splinter Cell had some of the best stealth action game play going. Who know’s, this might have been what Sam Fisher and the Third Echelon planned, just waiting for the right time to infiltrate.
