AMD brings new products for a Digital-First World, with Partners Lucasfilm, Mercedes AMG F1, Microsoft and More.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su today delivered the company’s CES 2021 keynote addressing the acceleration of digital transformation at home, work and in entertainment with appearances by HP, Lenovo, Lucasfilm, Mercedes AMG Formula 1 and Microsoft. Dr. Su announced new high-performance products for laptops and PCs and offered a sneak peak of the next generation of industry-leading server processors for data centers. AMD is incredibly proud to be at the heart of products, services and experiences keeping us productive, learning, connected and entertained in an increasingly ‘digital first’ world,” said Dr. Su. “We are committed to consistently pushing the envelope on what’s possible in PCs, gaming, data centers and the cloud together with our industry partners.” Notable details from the keynote include:

  • Acceleration of scientific research: Researchers explained how an additional 12 petaflops of donated AMD EPYC and AMD Radeon Instinct compute power is accelerating their research into combatting infectious diseases including COVID-19.
  • Partner testimonials: A number of special guests including HP CEO Enrique Lores, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing, Vice President of Technology for Lucasfilm François Chardavoine, Mercedes Formula 1 Driver Sir Lewis Hamilton, and Microsoft Chief Product Officer Panos Panay spoke to the power of their partnerships with AMD, from the co-development of products to the impact of AMD technologies on their work, whether filmmaking or auto racing.
  • Launch of new powerful and energy-efficient mobile processors: Dr. Su announced the Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile processors for ultrathin and gaming laptops. The world’s top notebook OEMs, including Asus, HP and Lenovo, will all bring AMD Ryzen 5000 systems to market starting in February, with more than 150 systems expected to launch this year. AMD will also be bringing the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO series direct to consumers for the first time, offering up to 64 cores and AMD PRO security technologies for the most demanding workloads.
  • World’s first public demonstration of next-gen AMD EPYC processor, codenamed “Milan”: AMD EPYC processors are at the heart of many of the largest cloud service providers, enterprises and supercomputers. AMD demonstrated 3rd Gen AMD EPYC “Milan” processors running the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF), one of the most popular tools used for climate research and weather forecasting, completing a weather forecast simulation ~68 percent faster than the competition.
